The Challenge & Goals
Viroqua Aronia Co is a farmer- and physician-founded operation rooted in Wisconsin’s Driftless region. They cultivate aronia, a resilient berry known for high polyphenol content and antioxidant power. The juice is cold-pressed, ultrafiltered, flash-heated, and bottled using a 70% solar-powered micro-plant. Every bottle carries a sense of place, care, and ancestral legacy.
The Problem vs. The Solution
Their previous site wasn’t telling the story—no character, no depth. It didn’t reflect the devotion behind the land, the science, or the ritual. It needed to become about more than transactions.
Their goals were clear:
- Build a custom design that reflects their Guam-based brand
- Make it easier for tourists and locals to find the café
- Improve mobile responsiveness
- Make flavor updates and store info easy to manage
- Lay the groundwork for search engine visibility
Our Approach
Prototyping & Approval
We started with a Figma prototype to capture the site’s intended tone, visual storytelling, and shopping flow. The prototype gave the client an interactive view of how heritage, process, and product presentation would come together. Feedback was gathered and implemented before moving to development.
Visual Storytelling
We created a clean, story-led design that mirrors the brand’s tone and ties directly to the land. Sections were crafted to highlight ancestral echoes, regional heritage, the science of aronia, and the craft behind each bottle.
Navigation & Technical Setup
We built a fully responsive, mobile-first experience optimized for speed and clarity. Editable sections for blog updates, “Berry Bulletins,” events, and retail listings keep the site fresh. Technical SEO setup included descriptive titles, alt text, structured metadata, and keyword-aligned headings for both local discovery and antioxidants-related search terms
